We are getting ready to take our Clothesline Art Sale poster/postcard to the printer, and we need some digital images of member artwork to hang on the “clothesline” pictured in the poster. If you are interested in having a piece considered, please send a small digital image of it (pick your best piece), preferably a JPEG (*.jpg) under 1 meg in size with at least a resolution of 72 pixels per inch. to Norma Eaton. This is free advertising, so it is worth doing.
On another note, we are going to be placing an ad in the Gazette Times to run for a few weeks before the Clothesline Art Sale. This will cost some money, so we have to ask you to send a check for $30 along with a CD Rom containing a digital image of your favorite painting (this time at least 250 pixels per inch) to Margie Kinch.
Be sure that the CD is labeled with the following:
Name
Address
Phone Number
Email Address (if applicable)
Title of 2D Artwork
Medium
If you want it back, send a self-addressed envelope stamped with sufficient postage to get it back to you.

It is that time of year when those who are planning to participate in the Clothesline Sale need to start getting your artwork in order, according to Clothesline Chair Molly Perry.
If you have matting, framing, card printing, etc. to do, it might be a good idea to get all of the necessary things ready. Time seems to catch up quickly with all of us.
Molly will be presenting our program for the July meeting and will be able to answer any of your questions at that time. The applications for display space for the sale will be inserted into the July issue of Brush Strokes for your convenience.
And, please remember, that only juried exhibiting members are allowed acceptance into the show with only two-dimensional work to be displayed. Guidelines for the sale are available in the 2006-2007 Art Guild Directory.
It is important for new or returning Guild exhibiting members who wish to participate in the sale to note that you are required to display at least once in one of our Guild sponsored sites in order to be eligible to display at the Clothesline Sale in August. Because of the large number of participants and the limited amount of space available, there will be no exceptions to this rule.

The Portland Art Museum is one of only three sites in the United States that will show a rare collection of art from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam from May 26-Sept 16. The exhibit features 90 Dutch masters’ works including 14 treasures by Rembrandt.
With this wonderful opportunity to see great works of art in Portland, Judy Findley has been assisting the Corvallis Art Guild Board in investigating the possibility of a group tour sometime this summer.
Entry fee for the show was $18 each in Phoenix, but with a minimum of 12 people, the group cost for the exhibit in Portland is only $11 per person. Tickets need to be preordered and prepaid. A 47 passenger bus for an 8 hour round trip would cost over $600 or less for a smaller van.
Possibilities include a $25/per person fee and bring your own lunch; make a box lunch available; or find a place for lunch at a restaurant, depending on the size of the group. The board will consider at the May a meeting whether to use Guild funds to help underwrite a bus trip to Portland for CAG members to attend this rare exhibition of Dutch masters artwork.
What is needed is a reliable idea of just how many CAG members would be interested in participating in a group tour to the Portland Art Museum before any plans move forward or a date set. Interested members will be asked to sign up at the next general meeting or sign up by e-mail to novate8@msn.com. For more information about the exhibit see www.codart.nl/exhibitions/detai1s/.

Professional artist and instructor Corrine Loomis-Deitz has been a member and educator for Golden Artist Colors through the Working Artist Program since 1999.
According to Corrine, “The Acrylic Lecture Demo is a fun, fast-paced informative lecture covering a technical review of acrylics and their varied application possibilities. The lecture demo will present information on pigments, viscosities, gels, mediums and more.
Learn how acrylics can be used as grounds for other media, such as watercolor or colored pencil; get key information on color mixing, blending and controlling drying time; and see how gels can be used to modify paint properties or create unique textural surfaces. From traditional to contemporary to mixed media, acrylics are infinitely versatile.”
She says that “artists of all levels will come away from this lecture demo with fresh new insights to feed their creative expression.
All participants will receive free product samples and a literature packet, including hand-painted color charts.”
Please note: With so much information to cover through the lecture, demonstration and discussion, the program is scheduled to run from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm.
