There will be a Watercolor Society of Oregon convention on Friday to Sunday, April 5-7, 2013 (next year) in Albany and we will need a lot of helpers in order to make the convention a success. People helping do not have to be watercolor artists and do not have to live in Albany. It will just be a good way for all local artists in the Mid Valley to rally around a common goal–bring more attention to the visual arts that are available and maybe generate some new interest to people who never noticed the arts around them.
People do not have to be in charge of any particular sub committee . One specific need is ideas for centerpieces for the banquet tables. If anyone knows how to make inexpensive but attractive arrangements, please let Stephanie know. Also needed will be names of vendors to contact and businesses that can offer gift certificates and awards for the winning paintings. As you can tell there are lots of ways people can volunteer. These conventions are lots of fun–a great place to meet very accomplished artists, learn new ideas and be around like minded people.
Anyone wanting to help or more specific information regarding the sub-committees should contact Stephanie Low at stephanielow7@gmail.com
Thanking you in advance for any help you can offer to spread the word about the WSO Convention.

The Arts Center Exhibition Committee is seeking proposals for a themed

intended to be an excellent art exhibit with a theme that can be
integrated in elementary school curriculum. The chosen theme is about
food, agriculture, nutrition, gardening, chickens and eggs, husbandry

together in the title: “Fingerlicking Good, Art about Food.” We hope
to show artwork that has a connection with food, food production and
preparation in the widest sense.
We are interested in all media, both 2 and 3 dimensional. The
Exhibition Committee seeks a balanced exhibition program; in media as
painting, drawing, fiber, photography, print making, sculpture etc. It
is The Arts Center’s goal to show work by local artists and to
introduce work from artists of the larger Northwest area. Both
established and upcoming artists are encouraged to submit work.
