Workshop-HOW TO PAINT TREES & THE FALL LANDSCAPE AT IRONRIDGE

Taught by DONNA BEVERLY      Current enrollment (9-25-11)   7 of 10
All painting mediums accepted:  watercolor, acrylic, oils, pastels, colored pencil, etc.  Note:  the first session is held at the Benton County Museum in Philomath at 1101 Main Street.

DATES:      Five THURSDAYS,  OCTOBER 6 –NOVEMBER 3, 2011
TIME: 1pm – 4pm
LOCATION:  IRONRIDGE, 31364 Peterson Road, Philomath
TELEPHONE:  541-929-7237
COST:  $165,      Deadline for enrollment:   October 1, 2011
Limited to 10 adult participants – Basic drawing is the only pre-requisite.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

How does one begin a landscape, especially how does one draw a tree or a group of trees? There is so much detail and texture on each tree that it seems impossible to capture its essence.  The class begins by learning how to draw several different types of trees – evergreens, maples, birch trees, palm trees, etc.  After getting comfortable with drawing trees, artists will be guided through the process of selecting a composition from the landscape that adds dynamics and movement to your paintings.  The late afternoon light is so magical here in the Northwest, the time of day is essential for conveying the shadows as they fall across the land.  The setting, a farm resting on the ridge of a local foothill in Oregon’s Coastal Range – allows the painter many opportunities to convey great distances or intimate garden spaces.

All painting mediums accepted:  watercolor, acrylic, oils, pastels, colored pencil, etc.  Note:  the first session is held at the Benton County Museum in Philomath at 1101 Main Street.

HOW TO ENROLL:

Supply list will be sent by email upon receipt of payment.  How to apply:  Send check payable to Donna Beverly, P O Box 761 Philomath, Or. 97370.  Classes fill quickly.  Questions? Email Donna at:  donna@donnabeverly.com

Clothesline Sale:

Our Clothesline Sale, marking our 50th anniversary, was enjoyed by
all. Four different musical groups played everything from classical to
barbershop. Gross sales were $29,000, about the same as last year.
Expenses, including the $1200 given to Corvallis schools for art,
equaled $4000. Special thanks to Mike Bergen for a job well done.

DaVinci Days:

Judy Findley reported that over 100 portraits were drawn by
several CAG artists at DaVinci Days.

Corvallis Fall Festival:
Kristin Hager says that 7-8 CAG members have signed up for sharing the Guild booth at the Fall Festival.

Hanging around Town:

We thank Cherill and Earl Boisonou for chairing Exhibits for the

agreed that exhibiting members can exhibit at Timber Ridge once every
twelve months, rather than every 24 months.  The Hanging Around Town schedule is attached.

At the September meeting, President Rick will ask about members’ interest in participating in the coming Festival of the Guilds – Holiday Sale at The Art Center in November.

Hope your summer is going well, Joyce Canan
