PeaceHealth is accepting ongoing applications for exhibits of art to be displayed at its cafes in both of the Sacred Heart Medical Centers in Eugene.  They are looking for exhibits that suggest wellness, healing and the power of nature to improve patients’ lives.  They are currently accepting applications for exhibitions throughout 2013.

"Encounter" by Rob Robinson

Artist Rob Robinson will speak at the next meeting of the Corvallis Art Guild on Monday, May 7th, at 7:00.  He will be demonstrating two techniques he has used in his recent work; stamping, which he uses to create implied textures in his work, and collage, which he uses to include real textures in his work.  He will discuss both the materials and techniques he uses.

Robinson has been painting since he was ten years old, and obtained a minor in art from Georgia State University.  While he has worked in a variety of jobs involving remote sensing, using satelite imagery and aerial photography, he has continued to work as an artist as well.  He has studied with  Gerald Brommer, Carole Barnes, Don Andrews and Betsy Dillar Stroud.  He currently works in acrylics, collage and watercolor.  He enjoys experimenting with abstract and nonrepresentational work, as well as plein air painting.

Dear Watercolor, Acrylic, and any other water-based media Artists:

We  have an on-going ‘GROUP STUDIO’  at  1136 Main Street, Philomath.

The price includes:

A.  Your own real estate:  your own table where you can leave your art supplies out and ready for daily use.

B.  3  thirty-minute private sessions with Donna.

C.  Open studio painting with group.  (9 hours/week of open studio) with                feedback on each persons paintings daily, as requested.  Some people will be there only one day per week, but you are welcome all three days.

D.  Demos by Donna Beverly of painting with acrylic and watercolor techniques.

E.  Refrigerator for any food items  and a microwave for warming food/snacks.

F.  General instruction available on drawing, perspective, landscape, still life & portraiture, as requested.

G.  Easy & close parking on street, one handicap parking space and more parking in our back alley.

Guest speaker:
Susan Detroy

Susan Detroy, artist and arts consultant, will speak about her work at the Corvallis Art Guild’s meeting on Monday, April 2nd, at 7:00 in the meeting rooms at the First Presbyterian Church, on 8th and Monroe, in Corvallis.
Susan often works with mixed media, and uses photo-related processes and unique printing techniques. Her artwork pulls inspiration from her long time love of photography and her beliefs about how art is generated. She is the creator of a folkloric series “Mythic Animals” and is interested in art generated in a naive manner. Susan will be sharing her work and some of the methods she uses to create her work with us at the April meeting.

Her other role is as an arts consultant. Susan assists individuals and businesses in telling their artistic stories. Her work in this area may include project management, coaching and advising, exhibit design, art purchase, installation, and cultural and art event management.
